I may be wrong, but your "ventricosa" looks more like a ventrata or plain alata.

Those are ventricosa. They don't get the famous hourglass pitchers until they mature.

I'm pretty sure it's pure, but I could be wrong about that as well. I'm positive that it's not an alata, the peristome has teeth that alata doesn't have and does very well in highland conditions that would have slowed down lowland/intermediate N. alata. The internodes also seem shorter than what is standard for ventrata. It was given to me as a ventricosa, so that's what I'll call it for now.

fusca flared peristome finally decided to throw out a new pitcher. It seems to have perked up now that the days are warming up a bit.

Never heard of D burkeana until I read your post. Googled it and I have to say I love how the adult plant looks! Eager to see how your seedlings grow up. Will have to keep an eye out for one of those beauties.

I had very humble beginnings as a horticulturist. I started with sundews in yogurt cups because they were the perfect size to fit on a windowsill. Then all the windowsills filled up. And it appears that now the plants have me surrounded. Funny how that goes.

But every time I eat yogurt, I'm reminded of how thrilling all those early days were. How exciting it was to grow new plants and learn about them.

A few new developments!

N. spathulata x platychila - I'm really fond of the newest pitcher!

D. burkeana starting to show some adult traits. I've noticed that the seedlings started on Sphagnum grow twice as fast as their siblings on peat/sand. This confuses me somewhat, as this plant is apparently grows in waterlogged peat, not in Sphagnum mats...

S. (rubra x psittacina) x leucophylla. This plant reminds me quite a bit of S. x umlauftiana with a more pronounced hood, probably because it lacks the purpurea genes.

My forest of capensis looking a bit depressed, probably since we just had a thunderstorm pass by.

U. subulata. This stupid thing keeps trying to invade the rest of my plants. I've placed it in solitary confinement for now.

D. capensis restarted from the scraps of my main plant that got mauled by a squirrel in April. You can see the old stem in the second cell down on the right.

D. binata var. dichotoma 'Giant'. I'll be selecting 3 plants from this mess for my giveaway!

D. scorpioides. Not much to say.

Drosera sprouts! I received these as a mess of flower stalks from Tanukimo last week. (Thanks!) Apparently there's D. capensis, nidiformis, venusta, and burmannii in the mix. I'll have lots of fun sorting these out...

N. spathulata x glabrata peristome looking oddly red. Strange, usually the peristome stays greenish and the pitcher turns red...

My Sarracenia aren't going hungry tonight, hehehe.

S. jonesii putting out their first pitchers. I've got two seedling trays filled with these guys!

D. dichotoma 'Giant' putting out a flower stalk. Weird, I only got the plant this year...Hopefully I'll have seeds to give away soon!

D. burkeana all grown up! I sowed these guys in April. Quick little buggers.

A bit of bird poo managed to land directly on two of them. I'm going to scrape it off later. There are NO trees in the vicinity, I'm not even going to ask how it got there...

Flower stalk! Don't know if these guys are self-fertile or not, so I'll wait for its brethren before doing anything.
