sarr stratification and mold

i just looked at my sarr seeds that i have in the fridge and noticed some mold. i was thinking it might be a good idea to wash them off before sowing. i was thinking of using a lite solution with dish soap. i was wondering if anyone else has done this or if it even necessary.

Is the mold on the seeds or other parts? I'm not sure mold is a good thing.

Is it normal to get mould when stratifying? How long does it take to get mould?

Mold is forever with us I'm afraid.

Molds and fungus' are indeed a seed and seedling killer.

Some people use a sulfur-based fungicide to combat it.

I'm using Neem Oil myself from now on. It's a natural fungicide, mitecide and insect repellent.

I've sprayed a solution of Neem on soil surfaces and it definetly helps greatly to keep the spores from activating in overwhelming numbers.

Spray with tebuconazole which can be bought at the Home Depot or Lowe's.

In the future, you can avoid moldy seed by lightly spraying them with a fungicide before stratifying them.

I've never had problems with mold in the fridge. I just use a wet paper towel and then wrap in aluminium foil.

It's possible your seeds were dead to start off with and have just rotted off.
