Pruning?

When traps die or parts of leaves or traps turn black, when do you cut them if you cut them at all? At the base, just the black portion? do you cut traps that are small in hopes of bigger ones?

You can leave the leaf as is or trim off the dead parts. I trim off the dead parts to prevent fungus from getting started and because I think it looks better. Trimming off the small traps won't encourage the growth of larger traps and could cause it to grow small traps. By cutting off the small traps you reduce the amount of leaf surface available for photosythesis. That reduces the amount of food the plant can produce for growing more and bigger leaves and traps.
