problem

VFTs don't need to be fed to live. They photosynthesize food just like any other plant. Bugs are like little bits of fertilizer for the VFT and provide nutrients that are not found in sufficient amounts in the soil where they grow.

Here are a few links to Barry's site pertaining to feeding VFT. If you have time, read all his VFT Faq pages. They have the unique combination of being informative and interesting.

1) How often should I feed my Venus Flytrap?
2) What should I feed my Venus Flytrap?
3) Exactly how do I feed my Venus Flytrap?

While bugs may be like little bits of fertilizer for your VFT, it's not a good idea to put little bits of fertilizer in the traps. It will kill the traps.
