pollinated female spike

so when you have a pollinated female spike is it possible to enclose the spike with like a plastic bag to catch all the seed instead of letting the wind blow all of them away...?

If you could put one over it that would work great. But I dont know how it would work if the spike is BIG. Or you could put some kind of catcher underneath it and grwo it inside(it seems like its outside now).

You could bag it with cheesecloth, available in the baking goods aisle of most grocery stores.

When the pods are ready, the tips go brown. You can then open the pods and shake and scrape the seeds out. Saves having to wait for the pod to pop open.

It is usually pretty easy to harvest the pods before they split and easy to tell when they are ripe, but if you are away on vacation you can always put a nylon stocking over the spike

Did someone say stocking? Hehe, christmas is approaching...do any of you still do/get stockings (i.e. for your children, from your parents)?
