odd D. capensis leaf growing

Well after a winter frost the plant had some shock witch didn't effect the first leaf but did effect the second. I don't have a pic yet but, instead of the leaf starting as a normal leaf would, the sticky part is rolled in a ball, I will take a pic after it unfolds if it looks weird but, is this just stress?

Are you sure it's not a flower stalk?

Yes, quite sure because it lost every last one of its leafs, but, luckly a new stem popped up or it wouldn't be coming back so quickly.
