Normal for browning during growth period?

Hello all,

A few weeks ago, I noticed that the soil in my S. leucophylla's pot was looking pretty dry even though the watering tray had plenty of water in it. I took the pot out of the tray and noticed that algae had done a nice job of sealing up the drainage holes! I took a Phillips screwdriver to it, and from now on, will topwater weekly to make sure it's still getting good drainage.

This morning, I noticed that the oldest pitcher on the plant from this season is starting to turn brown at the edges. This pitcher is maybe two months old. The other developed pitcher on the plant seems to be doing fine, and the one that was developing has stopped growing, but still looks healthy. Is this plant dying or is it normal for some pitchers to start drying out this early in the growing season?

Thanks!
