New Pinguicula.org website

  • Thread starter Forbes
  • Start date
pinguicula.org

As connoisseurs of fine Lentibulariaceae, you probably already know, love, and have been occasionally frustrated by the pinguicula.org website. In recent years, I have been returning to consult the field reports and other materials on the page with some frequency. The resource contains a vast compendium of information but using it was made difficult by a combination of vintage design and lack of updates.

The updates and corrections are yet to come, but I have worked with Eric Partrat, the page's creator, to modernize the design and structure of the site.

For those interested in tech stuff and who might be amused by my process, I made a page documenting the migration of the website to Markdown.

I'm glad to hear it! This site is an important resource for all Pinguicula lovers and it contains a lot of useful, and just fun, information. Thanks to those who are involved in the reworking of the site and to you for announcing it here, Forbes.

The first time I went to the new site was quite a shock, I like the look of the new site, but I'm still going to miss the old one.

I am glad to hear that other folks also still use the website. We are open to receiving corrections and contributions, should you wish to participate.

This transformation can be done from a Linux site.?

That's great! Thanks for teaming up to make such an amazing resource even better.

Yes, any page can be updated in a similar manner. The process is more or less manual depending on how the original page was written. In the case of pinguicula.org, the original HTML code needed quite a bit of work to modernize the page.
