Nepenthes aristolochioides

One of the three groups (GROUP B) of Nepenthes aristolochioides seeds have started germinating. There has been some speculation as to whether these are actually what they claim or just a common variety sold for unscrupulous profit. I acquired all three groups from three different sources to help the odds along and will keep this string updated with pictures as the seedlings develop. It might be interesting to see how this plays out.

I have bought several different pods from sellers on eBay, with no success.
I'm done with buying from these sources.

Good luck on your new crop! ;-)

The problem with growing seed from these sources is that there's no way to know what you bought till three or four years down the road. We've all seen instances where the seedlings were all hybrids, or a different species entirely. The initial investment of a few dollars for seed is nothing compared to three years of care and cultivation.

See, that's what makes me iffy about growing seed. If I get it from the right source, I'll be rolling in the dough. Otherwise I've wasted time and money

Yah I've heard that their are some sketchy sources out there...actually a lot of them, but since you bought three packets I think that at least one should be true to its labeling, if not more. Good luck with the seedlings.:)

I bought mine from a girl in AL and she sent me wonderful plants. She said she will begin selling again in spring if you want her email address I will give it to you. PS really good prices and she didnt try to over charge for shipping.

I'm retired and learned a hard lesson about turning a hobby into a business and the time investment, seed cost and cost of filtering my own water isn't worth mentioning. If anything is learned from any experience it's not a waste of time and it has and is a fun way to pass the winter. I should have avoided the nit-picking seller that was offering just a few seeds for the price that the Asian sellers were offering one or more pods. The three species that I got from that seller haven't done anything and looking thru the planting media they appear to have dissolved back to nature.
Here is a list of seeds I am currently propagating with plant and germination dates:
