I have a plant I managed to keep it alive for a year, question is this do these plants require a cool /cold shut down ....

Nope. keep it going, no dormancy on TROPICAL pitcher plants.

Is it really an alata? Or is it a ventrata...a lot of of ventrata are being sold as alata, and a positive ID is a great thing to have.
