window sill is not recommended for a VFT. See if you can put them somewhere..where they can get DIRECT sunlight. A few leaves WILL burn..but new growth will be spectacular. :)
 
I bought a VFT & S. purpurea from my Home Depot, recently. the purp was totally green. I placed them both om the front porch and even under East & South exposure, the purp gained significant color. If ya can beet the pests, outside, even under a porch does wonders.
