Here's some more new arrivals and a few new pitchers.
lowii x merrilliana is MUCH bigger than I expected! The latest two pitchers were warped because the tendril had looped around them during production. Has anyone seen this happen? Otherwise the plant it gorgeous with lots of red, stripes and awesome hairs under the lids! Sweet!
IMG_3603_zpsc4c5f954.jpg

These earlier pitchers look like little red ephippiatas. I love em'
IMG_3604_zps8239e81d.jpg

Although this pitcher is pretty haggard, it gives an idea of the greatness thats to come from this hybrid!
IMG_3611_zps298d8c05.jpg

This plant should be one of the most spectacular hybrids ever I think: ((lowii x veitchii) x boschiana) x TM

spathulata x (lowii x tentaculata)
I'm not sure how this one will turn out, although I love the father. I guess we shall see...

Pygo posted that photo of his ventricosa x robcantleyii the other day as it was just opening. I really liked the photo and I found mine in the same position this afternoon. This plant is turning into a bush real fast! It has two basals that are growing like crazy:

vogelli's first pitcher in my care! Woohoo!
IMG_3516_zps6e8fa393.jpg

I thought that this ventrata pitcher looked nice as well:

"gentle"
IMG_3529_zps9761f2ef.jpg

This ventricosa x ramispina went from three or four leaves to THIS in just a few months (the larger basal is about the size of the plant when I got it):

IMG_3527_zpscb6e55c1.jpg

S. leucophylla "tarnok" finally put out some really nice pitchers! These totally tromp on the ones that it produced in the spring!
IMG_3514_zps9f2d67ba.jpg

And I'll leave y'all off with a few ant plants:

Hydnophytum mosleyanum:

I received a ventricosa x inermis cutting in a trade with JB a while back. It finally took off and inflated it's first upper pitcher! Yay! There are two more on the way!

I'll get a better photo when this darkens, but here's my favorite of the Genting highland plants that were wild collected:
sanguinea x ramispina:
IMG_3830_zpsf85ddc6e.jpg

Ventrata's been putting out these pretty weird pitchers. I sort of like them though. They're different than most I've seen:

Sabre came today! Got this bad boy from Sam but it's an EP hybrid which I think makes it a "Sabre" but I'm not sure. Either way, it's sweet!

  • #113
Depends on how you look at it. If it is EP it's almost certainly a Sabre, if it's ventricosa x trusmadiensis. But if you look at that cross as a grex, any plant of that hybridization would be a Sabre clone. If you think it was a strictly EP clones that can bear that name, yours would probably still count.

spectabilis x singalana just produced a wonderful pitcher that shows a whole bunch of promise for this hybrid. so far I haven't been able to find any other photos of any mature-ish plants from this cross:

The red blush on that is not a common sight....... I think I've only seen a color pattern like that on N. faizaliana, it's gorgeous!

  • #116
I'll make sure to post another photo as it matures. That was taken just hours after it opened. It's going to get much deeper and richer colors over the next few days. I need to take a better picture of the back of the pitcher. The red flush fades into yellow and then green, giving it this sweet rainbow look. The peristome seems to not fold back thanks to the singalana parentage. I just wish it was more toothy like the one Dex just posted in the obligatory-CC-visit thread. This thing is still a very small plant so I'm excited to see it mature. It should be a stunner!

*Edit* Here are some ant plants to look at. I might as well post photos when I open my mouth, er.. keyboard (??)

Hydnophytum moseleyanum
hydnophytum1_zps49cde48a.jpeg

Lecanopteris (I forget the species name, I'll look up the tag if anyones interested). I find this plant really interesting because ever leaf/frond it puts out is very different than the last one. I guess that's just the fern growing up fast, but it's cool to see the same fern have four sprouts of foliage that might as well belong to different plants. I'll take a more descriptive photo of this later on.

This veitchii bario was the best $15 nepenthes purchase ever! It's more than tripled in size in the past 4 or 5 months that I've had it, and it's just put out it's first veitchii-esque pitcher! I'm really excited over the color and striping that this one's showing at a young age!

Here's the darkened up spectabilis x singalana pitcher that I posted previously:
IMG_4626_zps465c5270.jpg

And here's the newer pitcher. It's smaller than the last one though, I think I did something the plant didn't like :( I'm really loving this hybrid though!

lowii x merrilliana's first pitcher in my care!

I LOVE this bad boy!

And here are a few pitchers from my favorite sanguinea (with possible ramispina influence) to wrap up this post:

*EDIT* OOps, one more thing, heres a little hanging bromeliad structure I put together:

  • #119
Kudos on that gorgeous lowii X merrilliana pitcher!

Here are a few new arrivals and updates:

First of all, it doesn't look like much yet, but I'm now the proud parent of a seed grown lowii x ventricosa (Thanks Paul!!) :-D
image-11_zps9e259b83.jpeg

Here's a basal cutting from the same person's sib x TM (I'm enjoying these pitchers now before I have to wait for it to root and take months to develop new ones)
image-12_zps8017e69c.jpeg

image-10_zpsaae83375.jpeg

And a much awaited truncata x TM 'Red'!
truncataxtm_zpsef2d901d.jpeg

Here are a few that have been around a while:

New sibuyanensis pitcher: I've heard many people complain about this species being fickle, although it's been very forgiving for me, I've bumped it around and even shook up the root system a little over a week ago, and it's got this pitcher and at least one more on the way. I really love this species:
image-9_zpsa38521e2.jpeg

Another wild collected sanguinea x ramispina. Looks a lot like 'black beauty'. Or maybe it's just sanguinea (although in Genting they're all pretty much homogenized anyway):
