Moss not growing back

How would I get it ready to plant my neps in. Do I wash it off with tap and then plant them and then down pour to wash the tap away? This sucks, I thought I had some growing. Start back over again.

Rinse It off and try again. You dont need Live Sphagnum moss to pot youre neps in any ways.

I know but I like the way it looks. Would you use tap to rinse off then pot then use the distilled to rinse away the tap?

That would work. No need to waste precious distilled.
