laptop hard drive replacement help needed

I'm putting a new hard drive in a laptop.
Is there a physical differnace between the 3 Gb/s and 1.5 Gb/s interface?
are they compatible with each other because the one I'm looking at is the same price for both.

If your controller card/Mother board can handle 3 Gb/s (SATA II) you can run the 3 Gb/s drive at that speed. If not (SATA I) the drive should have a jumper switch to 1.5 Gb/s.

Look up the specifications for your laptop.
