I was just wondering if this will grow outdoors with my Sarracenia and Cypripedium acaule? I am also having a very hard time finding it. Anyone know a good source?
Thanks.
Bye for now,
Thanks for the cool links. I sure hope my Cypripedium wasn't collected. I'd feel terrible, as it's really rare in the wild from what I've read. I got it from a man who'm I did a trade with a couple seasons ago. I traded a Sarracenia purpurea for it as I remember. I was told it wasn't collected when I asked, but I guess just dealing online I have no way of knowing.
Thanks again.
Bye for now,
They sure are a beautiful plant.
I go to an island every year with a group of friends we camp several hundred yards from a bog full of pitchers.
On the opposite side of the bog there are sand dunes, and they are full of C. acaule.
They really do seem to prefere the sand dunes to the bog and even the forest.
Yeah, I was told to mix a lot of silica sand (don't breathe the dust! ) in with the peat moss and composted tree stump and to also plant it a little higher than the pitchers. It seems happy with that arrangement. It bloomed last year.
Bye for now,
