I wanted honest input for a setup I am planning to install indoors. I will start with small plants to see how it goes. Here's the general breakdown of the setup.
-Plastic custom built grow chamber made of white pvc pipe as a frame with tightly fit non transparent white plastic panels to prevent light and humidity from escaping placed inside an air conditioned room indoors (8'x10'x6.5')
-Light fixture with 4 6500k 100 watt 4' led gardener bulbs (1 led uva/uvb bulb swapped? Far red led bulbs where? Just speculating here, likely unnecessary)
-Plastic grating shelves with plants on middle shelves and distilled water trays on bottom shelves cooled by an aquarium cooling system and pump. PVC drainage and overflow pipe system can allow excess water in trays to be siphoned out easily using an electric aquarium siphon.
-Fan inside
-Lights and fan on timers for 14 hours a day.
-Aquarium cooling system and pump on for the last 10 hours overnight.
-Will likely start with very large plastic pots with drainage holes (24"+ diameter) and small plants to begin with to avoid repotting stress. All plants in 3:1:1:1 organic long fiber sphagnum, perlite, pumice, horticultural sand with top dressing of live sphagnum.
-Species include Heliamphora Ionasi, Heliamphora Tatei, Nepenthes Rajah or Hamata, Nepenthes Attenboroughi.
Honest and critical input appreciated. Thank you everyone!
I am new to this forum but started growing carnivorous plants about 6 years ago. Mainly grow lowland and some highland or highland/lowland hybrid nepenthes and heliamphora as well as tropical Drosera and Brochinnia Reducta and Accuminata.
