How do you sterlize your media?

I usually I measure my peat and pour boiling water on it prior to adding anything else. I break up the peat when it is in the water to keep the dust down and then add whatever I need for the mix I am making. How do you do it?

I use to not bother, but a few mixes a go I had some type of bug that had to have laid eggs in the peat. Root eaters.

When I had far more time on my hands than the present, I ran my peat-based composts through a pressure cooker at 15 pounds for thirty minutes. Nothing, not even the toughest nematode or fungal spore survived that treatment for long. I did that primarily for starting seed and occasionally for plants.

Now, as another post suggested, I don't bother; and I replace most of my compost annually . . .
