Hi folks, I am a newbie, from the UK. A very amateur carnivorous plant keeper, and as of yet, not too successful, though still interested! I do, at present, have a lot of little white flies living on my vft plants. They don't seem evident on my pitcher plants though, which are close by. I have tried fully submerging each individual plant in water overnight, which did, briefly, get rid of a lot of them, but they just came back. I just wondered, what are they, is there a way to get rid of them, and am I doing anything wrong to have got them in the first place. Many thanks, Roi

I always try to use the least-toxic cure that is effective. In your case I'd try Neem Oil and after several applications determine if that has done the job. If not you would need to use something less benign, such as a systemic insecticide, but hopefully it won't come to this.

That is really useful thanks! I have found some 100% neem oil. Do I dilute this down, and use in a sprayer? Can I overdose with it, or are the plants quite resilient to it? Many thanks for your help...

It is typically mixed with water and shaken, then sprayed onto the plant and the pests. There should be instructions with the bottle of neem oil. It will need to be reapplied several times, a few days apart.
