growing VFT and pitcher plants

losfreddy

Composter
might be a dumb question, but VFT and PP seeds dont need a cold soak in the fridge before planting right? i can sow them without prep?

By "pitcher plant", I assume you mean Sarracenia.

Anyhow, the seeds don't need to be stratified, but they germinate better with it. Either way, they should grow just fine.

Stratification is not necessary for VFT, however Sarracenia do require stratification unless their seeds are sowed the moment they are viable, ie. literally right after the seed pod cracks open! Often what you can do with seeds harvested at a later time and do need a period of stratification is sow them in a pot of medium. Place this pot with your other plants that go through a dormancy period and voila! With warmer weather after the winter the seeds will germinate.

Good Growing,
Kenny
