Greetings from Queensland, Australia - Home of the "Three Sisters" of the Drosera genus

Hi everyone, I'm Fen

I'm very new to carnivorous plants, I got my first specimen a few days ago and am tentatively waiting for it to settle in and show signs of life.

I grow my plants in my bedroom with a grow light. I'm disabled, so outdoor gardening isn't something I can access regularly enough to keep things alive.

My plants are all on a table in front of my bed where I spend most of my time. It's nice to have some life in the room.

I decided to get into carnivorous plants because I've noticed a couple of little midge like bugs in my room. I hope they're not fungus gnats, everyone seems really afraid of them.

I decided to go with a Drosera adelae as my first CP, as it's native to QLD where I live, and tolerates more light and heat than other species.

With my fluctuating ability, I need plants that can tolerate a little bit of neglect sometimes. Nothing major, but I can't necessarily check on plants daily.

Happy to be here. Looking forward to picking people's brains.

Welcome!! I've noticed with D. adelae, the wetter, the better. My water tray has better looking plants than are what are in the pots that sit in it. lol
Excited to see your new plant once it settles in.

Welcome to TF! I think D. adelae is a good choice. It's pretty tough and does well in differing conditions. I like to grow them in lower light and to see the big, wide leaves but they grow well in bright light as well.
