Green slime in pot?

My pots of peat:sand have some green slime on the surface... i also have some seeds inside! Will the slime hinder them from germinating?

I believe it could suffocate them. It would also lure things in to eat away at it. If you can, without disturbing the seed to much, it usuall scrapes off pretty easily.
