fresh bought venus fly trap

new to terraforums, ive read up on venus fly traps, and just bought one myself.  I have a question.  Can i force my vft into dormancy? or do i have to let it go into dormancy by itself? If i put them into dormancy now, will i have to wait until march to take them out? Thanks for your help!

idk..but i wouldnt force or try to froce one into dormancy. they just go by themselves. if u just got it it could be tissue culture and it may not even go dormant this year. i am sure someone else will answer soon as i dont know all too much.

It will die back and grow very small traps and leaves.
