Fred's Orchids in habitat pictures 2016

An early visit to this particular meadow. It puts on a very fine show of many orchids throuhout the season predominately Dactylorhiza fuchsii. These are not quite out yet ( see last picture) but I was very pleasantly surprised to see these little purple gems. Unfortunately I haven't ID'd them yet but they look just as good without a name.

Purple thingies will do for now :-D

MrsG forced me to buy a pocket orchid ID book so we now have a pretty good idea what these are now ;)

The darker ones are the Northern Marsh Orchid - Dactylorhiza purpurella and the lighter one is the Southern Marsh Orchid - Dactylorhiza praetermissa.

The bottom one is still the Common Spotted Orchid - Dactylorhiza fuchsii

Unless you know better ::)
