Meh, I don't particularly like mosses that form a dense carpet like that. It seems to like deforming newly forming growth on some Sarracenia. If you're looking to use it as a medium there're a few things you want to find out, like how well does it hold water, is it extremely fully of minerals (which is likely as it sounds like you found it outside.) Or what did you intend on using it for?
