forum etiquette?

what does it mean when someone is replying to a post with a quote and they put a period as their response then their real response on the next line? is this the same thing as a bump?
 
If the text following the quote doesn't address the quote itself, then it's possible that the quoter was showing that they agree with the content of the quote.
The period is probably just a place holder.
 
I guess they're trying to quote the post without actually making a post (why I dunno) but some forums (like this one) have a minimum character requirement for posts.... I used to have enough for a sentence, but apparently people like to say "pmd u" Instead of "Hi, I'm interested I will send you a PM." so now you just have to post 1 character, which could be a period...

Bottom line, I don't' know :D hehe

I beleive Est has got it right in that it is just an agreement
