First Sarracenia flower

I have a S. flava var oranta (black veins, extreme red throat) and got my first flower for a Sarracenia and could not be more excited. I know, what a nerd but I do enjoy my CPs, Now I need to read up on pollinating the flower and getting seeds - that process. Thought I had more time before seeing flowers!

You can absolutely self polinate it. And should if you dont have pollen on hand when it opens, window is pretty small. I was going to take a quick video for you today but it stormed instead. What a wild microburst! Reports of a tornado too on the other side of the city.

incredible wind gusts! I remember living in Mesa and we had microbursts, can be scary stuff. Hope that you are doing well and no damage from the storm.

I reached out to a local CP grower and he said that with these late flowers the self pollination is the best option. More than likely it won't take and if it did, there is not much time til fall for the seed to mature. So best to just enjoy the flower and let it take its own path.
