Fireflies

I haven't seen fireflies in my town in a long time, and this last week i saw two. For me that is a lot. lol I was trying to look them up but it seems the ones down here are different. the light is on the insects (shoulder?) right behind its head. I cant find any pictures on the net. I would like to see if I can find some females so i can breed them but im not sure where to look or if the females look different than the males.if i can find one tom marrow ill take a picture. Has anyone here ever bread them?
