dormancy

how do you induce a mexican pings dormancy. is it by light, temps, or water?

Yup! Following the growing season, (generally speaking) they require a lower photoperiod, almost total dryness, and lower temps. Many will develop small, stubby, non-carnivorous leaves. P. agnata is one that won't.
