Yes, 'way back when I used to grow this species, I kept it in standing water all of the time. It did well that way. In fact I was surprised when I started growing other species of Nepenthes that they didn't like their toes continually wet. Khasiana was once one of the most common of the genus in cultivation.
You mentioned that you used bottom heat when growing them so I figured I would give that a try. This evening I put a seedling heat mat underneath the water tray connected to a thermostat set to 60F.
There was a wild temperature swing of 50 degrees in my greenhouse today. 36F low, 86F high. The khasiana look unphased but I figure if I give them a little extra heat they'll appreciate it.
I just need to come up with a mix that is suited to sitting in water well. They are all in a mix of LFS and perlite and John told me that the sphagnum will degrade quickly when sitting in water.
I'm considering a chunky mix of some peat/ shredded cypress mulch, perlite, and gravel sized red pumice.

It is possible that my conditions were more tolerated than needed but I'd be interested in hearing how the bottom heat works for you. I believe that I used orchid bark as part of my mix so your chunkier stuff sounds good.

Repotted the khasiana this evening. What do you guys think of this mix? I'm just kinda winging it.
Large red pumice, small pumice, cypress mulch, and peat. Didn't measure our quantities of anything I just added stuff in until it looked coarse enough.

Nepenthes tobaica red x purple
From seed, 2014.
I don't remember how this plant first came to me. I know I didn't grow it from seed myself I think I bought it when it was around an inch or so in Diameter. I don't remember how long I've had it but it's been at least 6 or so years maybe more. Really love the color on this one. No idea what gender it is, but I'd like to cross it with reinwardtiana red or with khasiana someday.1000073698.jpg1000073697.jpg
