Cuttings and rooting?

This is my first cutting I've rooted on my own.
Is this new growth a sign that my eastern opuntia is rooting?

How long has the cutting been sitting in the media?

In any case, cacti/succulents form roots then show new growth, in my experience. So I would say yes, it has rooted. Probably shouldn't disturb it for awhile though.
