The aluminum filter is a very fine mesh and it will totally exclude frogs and other livestock for safe operation. The filter will also dampen fan air flow quite a bit. This is a benefit for small or medium-size enclosures, because the 60mm fan actually creates a good deal of wind. With the pair of aluminum filters in place it will provide a more gentle air flow.
