Collecting Seeds from D. capensis

My capensis flowered a few weeks ago and now the pods are full of seeds.

But how do you collect them...if I just wait for them to
open the seeds will fall into the water tray.

Do you cut off the flower stalk and put in a plastic bag?

Yep, that's what I did with my D.filiformis ssp filiformis. I cut off the flower stalk and put in a ziplock bag and checked it everyday and soon enough the pods bursted, sometimes you have to open the pods to get the seeds.

One thing to keep in mind is that it has a rather long flower stalk and flowers for several days. Therefore, while the very first flower pod may be ripe, newer ones aren't. So what you could do is snip a blackened, ripe pod off every day or two and put in something small and dry, like a piece of paper that is folded up (if you want to send them others) or a baggie. you could have several batches separated out for multiple pots and purposes.
