Well as person whose parent was affected by the events at Chernobyl let me say this:

This is why we should not just abandon the technology, as it seems to be an overwhelming knee jerk reaction especially after Fukishima Daiichi plant accident, but instead invest more in it to improve it and make it as safe as possible, because we need this is order to move on forward.
