Thanks for that information Bruce. I do want to donate time as well and there are several opportunities near me. The 'women borrowers' v. 'people helping people' (liberal v. conservative) labels are interesting to me. I believe in both as women are people, right?
There can be a lot of politics in giving, and like you, my means are limited. I just want to help in something that is not necessarily 'hot' with celebrities but very much needed. I heard someone on NPR (oh, guess I am 'liberal') say that more attention is paid to AIDS research (which is certainly worthy and needed) than to diarrheal disease (which kills more children).
