Capensis cutting generated "flower"?

Maybe this is just something that happens, since I've been so out of hobby for a bit, but I just used a flower cutting to see how long it would take for clones to sprout.

Instead, another flower sprouted before a clone? What? Is this mini flower going to sprout another mini-mini flower? Is it some sort of flower glitch? Flower rabbit hole?

It was! Didn't make much progress though and eventually I just let the stem die.
