Wow, both are great shots! I think the second one looks more like what I think of when I think of finches. But the other one looks cool, too! A bit more like a hummingbird, though.

actualy the todys most closly related to  kingfishers. But... you cant tell just by looking at it.

Id love to have a tody, but thats impossible because there such specialists. They eat mostly by gleaning insects from the underside of leaves, because, for some reason, the top just wont do.
 
yes gouldians. I couldnt find a picture of them that could be resized without distorting the picture
 
I like the Tody best. My daughter had Zebra finches for several years and while they are an attractive beard I came to dislike them and the mess they made in and around their cage.
 
Yah there messy, but it dosnt bother me. I vacume under it every 3 days so its not a big deal.
 
You can try irfanview to resize the larger pics. It is free. BCK knows how to use it properly. There are also Society Finches and Hooded Nuns.
