Can I use t8 bulbs in a walmart t12 fixture?

seeing the recent thread on lighting got me thinking.
Can I use t8 bulbs in a walmart t12 fixture? are there any advantages to them, more light, less power usage?
can the t8 high output be used?

T8 are more intensive and efficient for the same size and wattage. I highly recommend them based on first hand experience. But, u do need a different fixture that can take T8's. U cannot use T12 fixture.
