Well after trying many things to add my own avatar i always get an error. Can anyone help me out.

What file are you trying to add? ..do you know what type of file it is? gif, tiff, jpg, ...? Size? (pixil and mb)

i host them on my photobucket if that is a problem? But there are jpg files

As long as they allow that.. it's okay by us. are you trying the "upload from url" option? if so, what URL are you using?

I think i may be able to help, i ran into that photobuckt problem when posting an image. Got the same message. Click on propeties of the image in question and copy the ulr. I got, with my birds, -http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r272/Fledgeling_2006/Birds112006.jpg?t=1164343259
It is in jpg format, but there is junk after that the forum wont recognize, so i got that error message too. Delete the everything to the jpg format, like so -http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r272/Fledgeling_2006/Birds112006.jpg (both link to the same thing) and i was able to get my picture posted. I think it may be the same with avitars too. The deleted part did not seem to alter the image in any way.

I got the same thing you did
your URL is too long for the box so the end is cut off, thats your problem.

aha! figured the problem out.
Here is something i never looked at. I had the photo on my photobucket in this folder inside this one making the url very long. well terraforums was only allowing so many characters so it was cutting the ending off like well before the . jpg

originally i tried it in this folder

then i put it in the main folder making the url alot shorter and it worked as you can see.


then this is shorter

P.S make the picture 60x80 pixils so the size is right

YAY- glad you figured it out! You could save alot of KB size if you shrink the actual image. When I look at it, it is full screen... Let me know if you need me to shrink it for you.. Just IM me on AIM.

Yours isn't too much out (32.65kb) .. but it could be waay under.

Wow thanks! I was having a similar problem but I just read this and figured it out!
