Anybody know where I can find Philips ADV850 bulbs in smaller quantities?

Found a couple of places that sell the Philips ADV850 (HIGH PAR) bulbs individually

Edit: More searching through dozens of pages yielded this. Might be exactly what I'm (and others are looking for!)

You know, the ones that seemed to be the most efficient in that often linked PAR listing for various bulbs.

I know you can purchase them in a case, but that's all I see for sale. I'd just like to buy 8 or so bulbs to use for now without having to spend $150ish on a 25 bulb case.

Looks like I found a place that sells them individually by sheer luck with a bit more searching and sifting the results! It appears they only have the 25 and 28 watt versions though...

Looks like I'm still searching for the 32watt in quantities smaller than 25. =(

use "F32T8/ADV850/ALTO" as a search param, but verify with vendor before you finalize your order... there are several flavors as you have already discovered

an excellent choice in the T8 format BTW, youve done your homework ;)

Haha! I found that link and edited my post to include that right before you replied. Thanks for the help anyway brew! :-D And yeah I'm really interested to see how well they perform. I'm using six 6500k philips bulbs with an 86 CRI rating at the moment.

They appear to have them and it's exactly what I was looking for (same bulb and "uncased"). Shipping is about $20 to my area. I will probably order 8-12 of them tomorrow so I have spares. Still more economical in the short term than buying a case of 25.

YW.... and FWIW a few more independent refs for ya, just for that warm and fuzzy feeling ;)

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=adv850+plants+growth+&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=

but now if you are already using the ADV650 then the difference wont be near what it would be had you been using something else... you might be picking the fly dung out of the pepper mate, but still yet... it is a better bulb. If you notice the highest pars typically come in at 5000k/85CRI regardless of mfg.

its harder the tell the diff between a corvette and a porche, then the corvette and a chevette

Dont neglect your reflector efficiency... it can be as much as a 300% difference given the same bulb, remember... half the bulb is pointed in the wrong direction.

The lights I have aren't of the ADV type. I have the wrapping from them at home. It was just what seemed to be the best of what was readily available locally.

As for the reflector, I have several long sheets of Mylar that I want to put on the reflectors, only problem is the enamlish paint on my Walmart fixtures is like WAX paper and I can't get tape to stick to them.:-)) I think I'm going to try and glue the sheets to the fixtures somehow (superglue probably).

Go to the craft department at walmart and look for Elmer's Spray craft glue...

been there, done that... do not spray the entire surface, but a few lines (one at each edge and a couple close to the center) that run parallel to the longitudinal axis of the fixture... prevents a lot of wrinkles that way

I cut the mylar and externally taped it to one side initially, just to hold it in place. Then I raised the mylar and sprayed a line down the edge that was taped (on the fixture itself), then lay the mylar down to that point and smooth as best I could. Then spray closer to the center, lay the mylar to that point and repeat... etc etc etc

If you make a boo boo, warm with a hair dryer and carefully lift

you will understand once you do it LOL

Thanks for the suggestion. I got the OK to bring home some 3M Adhesive spray from work and I'm going to try that out.
