Alternatives to Artificial Rooting Hormone

Hi all,

Came across this blog while surfing the net. The person did a little home-experiment with honey, Artificial Rooting Hormone: Bayer Seradix B No. 2, and Aspirin: Compral (100 mg Paracetamol, 400 mg aspirin) contains aspirin (salicylic acid), which is a product of willow bark.

Interesting findings, will have to do some of my own experiments and see.

Good stuff. This leads us to consider how we can apply this to CP propagation.

Interesting, thanks for the post! It seems that available energy from glucose/fructose is contributing to the advantage of honey than the effects of phytohormones. I should look up if auxins are in honey.

Aspirins are actual acetylsalicylic acid (modified SA). So it is not exactly same as the natural phytohormone SA, but it has been shown that you ASA can act similar to SA in some cases (I do use aspirin water for my plants when they need it). Also, I though SA is more of the inhibitor than promoter of root formation.
