A visit to Theodore Wirth Park

Welcome to the quaking bog of wirth park.

Spring is the best time to get a good look at the S. purpurea.

The D. rotudifolia are starting to pop up.

there's not much happing in the bog, I'll be back in couple weeks.

Next we head to Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden & Bird Sanctuary, the oldest public wildflower graden in the U.S. 15 acres of woodland, swamp, and prairie.

I didn't get many pics becuase the batteries were dieing and I forgot to bring a fresh set. So here are a few of the best shots.

Nice pics. Be careful on quaking bogs. CP'er have been know to just disappear in them.

lol, The broadwalk is starting to sink in afew spots, but I'm not too concerned.

Theodore Wirth is a 500+ acre park in the middle of minneapolis (The jr. high school that I went to is no more then 20 feet from the eastern edge of the park). the bog is small it's maybe 1/2 mile to walk around outside the moat.

NY has nothing on the peatlands of northern Minnesota, I hope to show more pics troughtout the summer.
