Hiya All-
By this weekend, I'm hoping to have my 8x8x8. Solexx greenhouse up and running.
I already have have my fans and heater, but I'm not whether to get a misting system or a humidifier to keep the humidity.
My goal is keeping the temp about 80 and the humidity also at 80. My intentions...
I have a kind of problem I just realized today. I keep some of my CPs in my room, and I can't move them. And I can't sleep without a fan on.(don't ask) The fan is on a timer for 2 hrs, so after I get to sleep it turns off. My recently aqquired sundews are not making much dew, and my mom says the...
I made this list up for another thread of what I grow as windowsill plants. I was curious what plants others grow this way.
When I first started to grow CP's, I also thought you had to have high humidity. My first tank has water in the bottom of it all the time to keep the humidity up. The top...
In the next couple days my set-up will be done and I am moving all my plants. They will be under 130 watts of very bright light in a mini greenhouse in the basement. This set-up is for my highland neps. I don't know yet how high the temps will be under the lights but right now the temp stays in...

my nepenthenes are getting huge. my alata is over 3 feet tall now. the terrarium just is not working anymore.
so, i'm converting the small workshop room in my house into a greenhouse-type environment. plastic sheeting over the walls and ceileng, humidifier, etc.
i'm just not sure what kind...
I'm not sure I need this yet since I don't know how warm my basement will be in the summer at night. It can't be too warm since in the summer we go to the basement to cool off when it's 90 outside. I also plan on using a cool mist humidifier and maybe a fan to blow across the whole area. I...
Would this make the water ok to use at least for maybe neps and a humidifier? I'm going to be setting up a new mini greenhouse and I expect to go through water like crazy with humidifiers and all the watering. Plus I have a bunch more sarrs and VFT's since last year and yea, lots of water. What...
Come to think about it all my neps beside my hamata, tentaculata, and muluensis x lowii have pitcherd like crazy since I moved them to the grow tank. Why do these three hate me so much? The hamata and tentaculata look like they have pitcher buds but the muluensis x lowii just stares at me with...
Ok, I'm posting this here because it seems to be the most pertinant section of the site.
I'm a bit confused about humidity levels for my plants. I've read several different things, some seem to imply an enclosure for the plants, like a 2liter bottle with the top cut off placed upside down over...
Hi all,
I'm think about building a highland nepenthes grow chamber but wanted to run the design by you all. A highland chamber seems necessary in central Florida.
I was think about building an insulated plywood box with dimensions someway around 5' long, 2-3' wide, and 3-4' high. I wanted to...
Howdy, I am back, to the hobby, after some 25 years of so, wow has things changed, I am targeting my old favorites Nepenthes (Highlands mostly) and Heliamphoras. Am going to build a terrarium aprox. 4'x32"x 4', the 32" so can get it through doorway to move. Thinking of using sump system and...
I'm thinking about putting my ceph in the same tank as my n. hamata and other neps. I will be using a humidifier in the tank. The humidity at night gets about 95% leaving the substrate soaked. Also there will temp drops down into the high 60's. Is this good for ceph's?
I use tap water for my humidifiers. Is this a bad thing? My neps seem to be doing ok, but some pitchers turned black, but then again they are also growing new pitchers. So I kinda get mixed ideas. Help me out.
When I put my humidifier on the next mouring the soil mix is soaked. Is this good or bad for the neps? I don't want them to rot or anything if I use the humidifier. I could just not water them or something.
I'm thnking of upgrading my humidification system... Included in this is getting a dual stage humidistat control (day and night) so I figured I'd post my current controller (which works flawlessly) and go from there. So if you'd like to control some humidifiers, foggers, or anything by a...
I recently set up a tall Gro-Pro plastic greenhouse kit as a highland Nep terrarium. I'm lighting it with Fluorex lights, which get pretty hot, and I have an ultrasonic humidifier to keep things moist, but had to move in a cool mist humidifier because it was the only type of fan I had handy that...
I just got two small ultrasonic humidifiers today and put them on my neps. The temps droped from about 80-82 to 75 because they have a built-in fan. The humidity jumped from 60% to right now 85% Tomarrow during the day and I turn them off will it hurt them when the humidity drops? I just want to...
I am considering turning my 4'x3'x2.5' tank into a highland tank. I have been looking around for small AC units for nocturnal cooling. I found this relatively cheap and small portable swamp cooler:

This would be used in conjunction with a...
