When traps go black

acctually the pitchers turn brown. i also cut them off to keep the plant looking nice and healthy but i keep them to the side in a basket. later on when the leaves turn brown or black i cut them off also but i put them into the trash

Leaving them on won't hurt the plant at all either. It's kind of cool looking at them once the plant gets big, and they've got little, shriveled brown/black pitchers, next to much larger, fresh pitchers.

Older literature I've read siad to cut the dead/shriveled pitchers off because they could potentially lead to fungal infections, probably only a big concern in an enclosed terrarium with no air circulation. But after reading that I've always cleaned them up but cutting the shriveled ones off, "just in case"!
