What is a phyllodia?

They are leaves that some or most Sarracenia send up in the winter months (when they are dormant) so they can still do photosynthesis and mantain energy to live.

Most phyllodia are sword shaped and grow upwards. S. oreophila phyllodia is a curved sickle shape and it grows close to the ground. Some leaves are also very curved, like a snail shell.
