I saw the pictures in the Gallery of them and I want to know what are lithops. If they are just rocks why do they need a certain soil mixture?

?? Please help.

Dude, lithops are a type of cactus that come from the mexican desert. Many of them resemble rocks, therefore they are called rock gardens.

I don't know what I am saying. Please pay no attention to me. IF you have a question....ask someone else. I can't help.

Thanks for understanding.

Actually...

They are from Africa, not Mexico.

Also they are not cacti, but rather succulents (all cacti are succulents but not vs vs). Cacti are restricted to the Americas. Lithops are African, and members of the Mesembryanthemaceae family, closely related our own Composits, like daisies and asters which is evident when they flower.
