I was thinking the other day, ( always a bad thing, and it usually sets off the smoke detector. ), CPs are primerily bog residents, and a tad fussy about their water. SO....

What IS in bog water?

Besides the critters.....

Chemically speeking?

I am far from an expert but I would say that it depends on the bog. What has been living there, the composition of the soil/water in and around the bog and even the size of the bog.

In general bogs have low to no nutrient and mineral content. As far as specifics go, that probably varies by the bog.

Rain water and tannic acid from the peat. The browny colour is because the same chemical is present in tea.
