I just did that with some seed I harvested from one of my VFTs back in February. My germination is 93% (13 out 0f 14 seeds sprouted) compared to 0% (0/15 seeds) for the ones I sowed on my CP soil mix. I still have to plant them in soil though. Just can't decide on what size of pot to put them in.[b said:Quote[/b] (carfreak69 @ May 04 2005,6:14)]I was thinking that it might be possible to germinate them in a glass of water and then put them on the soil to grow after the root starts to show.

Hmm. Shoulda looked at my seeds earlier. I harvested them in March not February. I put them in the water 3 days later on the 24th and they are still in the water. I'd guess it took them about 25 days to start sprouting.[b said:Quote[/b] (carfreak69 @ May 04 2005,7:41)][b said:Quote[/b] ] just did that with some seed I harvested from one of my VFTs back in February. how long did you have the seed soaking in the water before it sprouted a root? did you put it in the fridge or something for a while to immitate the winter season?
As long as the tap root isn't allowed to dry out it will be fine. The only problem I have had with sprouting seeds this way is that if I wait too long to plant them, I end up with etoliated, spindly plants. It seems to take them forever to become nice stout plants once that happens.[b said:Quote[/b] (carfreak69 @ May 05 2005,1:03)]nice ... even cooler that you got them to sprout in just a couple months. Don't you want to put them on the soil right away after you notice that the taproot is emerging, though?
