The main rosettes flower and then die. The pups are how it keeps on keeping on. I leave mine attached as long as I can, but usually they break off, then are planted and soon grow into fine new plants. No such thing as too many!
Lithopsboy, like Tamlin said you should never complain that you have too many.
Some of us have such a hard time finding such plants,
I've just had to order a few from Australia.
If you've got too many, I'm sure there are plenty of people who would love a few!
