The san francisco conservatory of flowers

Hello All,
http://www.conservatoryofflowers.org is the website for the reconstruction of the Conservatory in Golden Gate Park. I think it would be of interest to many of you. It is, after all, a massive greenhouse full of cool plants! They mention nepenthes, mostly based on info from the Savage Garden

The website is a good read and very inspiring!!

at the winter 2003 bacps meeting, we got to go on a private tour of the place! they said they had a problem with cockroaches, and that the nepenthes controlled them! there was also a giant plant, forgot the name, that was 80 feet high, and over 100 years old! the nepenthes they had were mostly truncata and rafflesiana, each nepenthes was massive!

The 100 year old plant is probably their Philodendron. It's supposed to be quite famous.
I can't wait to see it all when they re-open!
Seattle has a smaller Conservatory in Volunteer Park. It was just restored as well. They have a huge bromeliad room and even a few carnivorous plants, mostly sarrs. They look a little out of place though... in a tropical jungle!
