Hi guys--
I wanted to let you all know that there is some seriously awesome and important work being done on behalf of rare plants in the southeast. The Georgia Plant Conservation Alliance or GPCA is becoming influential and spurred the development of sister organizations throughout the southeast (as in Alabama). The alliances bring together government agencies, non-governmental organizations, businesses, and private landowners to help with all endangered, rare, and threatened plants. The people that make up these groups are seriously amazing, dedicated, and are the best chance that the CPs native to the southeast have. Some of the most at-risk Sarracenia are top priorities for conservation efforts.
I can't wait to help and see what becomes of these efforts in the coming years. I have recently joined the GPCA as a CP enthusiast to possibly assist with growing, propagation, habitat work, and reintroduction efforts for CPs.
I cannot speak for the Alliances themselves but I think they are important enough to be on the radar of the community.
